COVID-Safe Art Classes Can Be a Soothing Activity This Fall

by | Aug 12, 2020 | News

Making art is a soothing, stress-relieving activity, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a master painter or just enjoy doodling. Creating and observing art is not only relaxing and enjoyable — it’s also therapeutic. It has proven useful for treating all sorts of issues such as anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, phobias, and more.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety, whether it’s fear of the dangers of the virus itself, loss of social events, working and schooling from home, or the economic stressors of job loss, reduced incomes, and more. Art is a great way to deal with all this stress and anxiety in a safe and healthy manner. The medium you choose doesn’t matter — all art forms help to promote a healthier state of mind and help us express our feelings.

At the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, we have a wide variety of choices for art classes for all ages. Explore your artistic side while relieving stress through drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry making, journaling, or writing in courses designed for adults and teens. For younger children, we offer several classes in painting, drawing, theater, pottery, sculpture, and more. We also offer classes for preschoolers, day classes for homeschoolers, and day camps during school breaks. We have something for everyone—so the whole family can enjoy the benefits of therapeutic art classes!

We take the safety of our students and staff seriously at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute and adhere to strict health and safety practices during the pandemic. Our class sizes are limited to ensure proper distancing can be maintained, and proper spacing in classrooms will be clearly marked. All surfaces will be properly cleaned and sanitized between classes, and all students will be provided with hand sanitizer upon entering the classroom. We strongly encourage all our students and staff to wear face masks in our facility. Online classes are also an option for those wishing to study at home. All these measures help to ensure that everyone can experience their art classes safely.
