Adult/Teen Painting & Drawing Classes

Students will study drawing with Gary Lennon in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment. The intermediate and advanced artist will benefit from this class. Learn the basics of drawing including materials and techniques to build your artistic skills. In this class students will be working on various projects and at varying skill levels. Gary will work with each student one-on-one throughout the class.

Students learn the basics of line, shape, form, value, light theory, spatial relationships and perspective. Using a variety of approaches, students focus on learning how to see the world around them and how to translate this newly found vision into the two dimensional world of drawing. All skill levels are invited to join this class. Steve will teach the techniques he uses in oil, mixed media and pencil works of art. This is a great class to be introduced to various mediums and learn the foundations they require.

  • -Idea of a subject that you would like to work on
  • -Hot Press Watercolor Paper (at least 12″x16″ size)
  • -Prisma Colored Pencils colors: black, white, serilium blue, terra cotta, canary red, orange, yellow
  • -Watercolor Set (small or large)
  • -Watercolor Brushes “Sable” size 8 or 6 and a size 2
  • -Mineral Spirits & Container (for cleaning brushes)

  • Various Mediums with Steve Boaldin "Art of a Cowboy"
    January 6, 2021 - February 10, 2021
    4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This class has been designed for the beginning, intermediate and advanced student with a mixture of studio time for independent work/experimentation, as well as guided one on one instruction. Students work with color combinations, brushstroke stroke techniques, and new materials. Gary emphasizes the study of subject, preparation, and transfer of images to watercolor paper.  Still life, landscape and portraiture techniques are offered as students advance their skills. All mediums are welcome.  Bring an example of art you would like to create or a project that is already started and supplies needed to complete your art work. Instructor: Gary Lennon

All skill levels are invited to join this class. Instruction is tailored to the individual. Emphasis is placed on choice of materials, depiction of light and shadow, painting techniques, basic color mixing and composition. The course provides students with a foundation for creative expression in oil painting. Come get away from the stress of the day and enjoy a relaxing, no pressure atmosphere to practice and learn.  Instructor: Jon Martindale

Oil Painting supply list

  • Basic starter set of oil paints
  • Odorless Turpentine/turpenoid or odorless mineral spirits (AKA paint thinner)
  • Small container of Linseed Oil
  • Canvas, canvas board, wood panel, or clay board (pre-gessoed is best (any size))
  • A few brushes (they come in variety packs and are specifically for Oil or Oil and Acrylic)
  • A few mixing pallet knives (sometimes they come with the paint set)
  • An oil pallet (can be store bought or I recommend a $1 store picture frame with glass)
  • 1-2 air tight jars (either store bought or I recommend old food jars like baby food/salsa/jam)
  • Encouraged for students to bring a photo of something they would like to try painting

Steve is a lifetime commercial and fine artist. Join this lifelong cowboy to learn the techniques and tools he uses to create realistic looking pieces in oil and mixed media. This particular class will have a focus on western imagery and the style that Steve uses in “Art of a Cowboy”.

  • Western Art Oils with Steve Boaldin "Art of a Cowboy"

Advance your drawing and painting knowledge.  Students will review form, technique, and perception throughout the learning process.  Reian helps develop your own style through teaching different techniques and styles.  Bring to class your own personal project/photo so Reian can help guide you through the process.  All skill levels. Instructor: Reian Williams

Painting with acrylics is rewarding, versatile and fun.  Native Oklahoma artist Thomas Stotts teaches his personal techniques used to create the unique landscapes and structures in his paintings. Through instructor demonstration, lecture, and individual practice, students learn the characteristics of acrylics, composition, perspective, distance, depth, light, shadows and color. Learn to manipulate the paint brush in varied ways to gain new painting effects and  work with  “washes” to create a “dreamy, atmospheric” look that is very popular.
