Applying to college? Don’t overlook the importance of the admission essay. It offers the best opportunity to distinguish your application from those of your peers and it helps admission counselors get to know you. But what makes a strong essay? In this class, writer, author, and essay coach John Gifford takes up this subject and explains how you can leverage the power of the personal narrative to enhance your college application. Students will learn three vital elements of a well-written essay and leave with an understanding of how to use them to produce something memorable. This class is designed for high-school students of any age. Parents are welcome to attend. Bring pen and paper or a notebook computer for a brief, in-class writing exercise.
