The Fine Arts Institute of Edmond ENRICHES CURRICULUM, LIVES
Now in its 23rd year, the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond (FAI) was the brainchild of four Edmond mothers in the spring of 1985. Worried their children were not getting art in school, they decided to do something about it. They got a 501 (c) (3) non-profit status, wrote bylaws and goals, created a board of directors and started teaching a few art classes in a local church, keeping their art supplies in the trunks of their cars. The first year they were thrilled to teach nearly 100 students. In 2007-08 the FAI reached 3,300 children and adults for in-house art related classes and another 15,000 with cultural programming in the community. Classes are for all ages and all stages.
